Trustees WANTED!

Application deadline: Friday 27th January

After a successful first three years as a charity, we continue to grow! We seek Trustees who want to be part of a dynamic, fast-moving and successful organisation, dedicated to tackling the human rights abuses of sexual and gender minorities at a global level. We welcome you to read our Strategic Plan 2022-2025 to get an idea about who we are before you read further.

We are seeking new Trustees to work alongside the Chair, and our team of national and international Trustees, to support the work of ReportOUT.

We are looking for for Trustees for the following specific roles with a portfolio:

  • Administration Officer and EDI Portfolio:
This role is to support our administration through arranging Trustee meetings, setting the agenda and taking minutes of our Trustee meetings, update our attendance register, and be responsible for logging our 'conflict of interest register.' This role will also lead on all internal equality, diversity and inclusion responsibilities at ReportOUT, including training of volunteers, EDI audits, and setting up an EDI action plan at ReportOUT.

  • Trustee with Portfolio for Internal Policy:
This role is to improve, re-write and develop our internal policies at ReportOUT. We are in a transition state to move from traditional policies to 'policy statements' and so seek a Trustee with clear attention to detail and the ability to work on shaping our policies as an organisation.

  • Trustee with Portfolio for Media and Public Relations:
This role is to work alongside our Trustee with Portfolio for Communications. This role will focus ReportOUT and what we do into the media, to ensure that our work, research, news and more, gets picked up by both LGBTQI+ and non-LGBTQI+ publications, news outlets, podcasts and broadcasts. This role will create a media strategy to enable this to happen.

  • Trustee with Portfolio for Education and Training:
This role is to lead our volunteer Education and Training Officers, to develop our plan of action with this team of volunteers to continue to offer our successful campaigner training, CPD courses for professionals, and to lead ReportOUT in our education and training mission to inform the public about the human rights of sexual and gender minorities, as well as working to develop the next generation of sexual and gender minorities as campaigners. This role will involve engagement with a volunteer team and action planning with them.

  • Trustees with Portfolio for a Specific Thematic Geographical Area:
We are seeking Trustees to represent specific geographical areas. We particularly welcome applicants to cover and represent areas such as:

  1. Asian and Pacific States

  2. Eastern European States

  3. Latin American and Caribbean States

  4. North America (Canada and the USA).

However we will also consider regions not covered here. These Trustees will actively reach out to their particular regional networks of activists, organisations and institutions, to make new links, inform our work, and develop new partnerships with LGBTQI+ organisations and activists, where applicable.

All of our Trustees abide by our generic role descriptor, which outlines everyone's duties as a Trustee. A Trustee with a specialist Portfolio has their additional duties on top of their normal role as a Trustee.

Whether you are an experienced Trustee or wanting to take your first step at Board level, if you feel that you can meet these challenges and can contribute toward the continuing success of a small global human rights charity, we would like to hear from you!

If you would like to apply, please send us your CV by the 27th January 2023, explaining clearly which role you would like to be considered for, why you would like to be considered for this role, and what you could bring to the organisation.

Please send these to the Chair of Trustees, Drew Dalton at: drewdalton@reportout.org

Please note that we may stop recruitment before this deadline date if we find suitable candidates.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role,

please contact the Chair of Trustees, Drew Dalton.
