What We Do

What do ReportOUT do?

ReportOUT are a global SOGIESC human rights organisation, which means we protect and defend the human rights of SOGIESC people in every nation state. We hear stories of corrective rape, torture, criminalisation and death, just because people love who they love or that they simply want to be themselves. We think that harm to SOGIESC people needs to stop. So what do we do about it?

Human rights research

Our team research, document and monitor what is happening to SOGIESC people in every nation state. We collect evidence which we make into country profiles from secondary resources and then from activists and SOGIESC people who live in the nation states that we research. As well as our country profiles, we even have plans to write our own book! Once we have the information gathered in our country profiles, we then work with other global bodies to push and campaign for social change in those nation states.

Global visits

Every year, we take part in information gathering visits to nation states. These visits allow us to build networks and partnerships, as well as give us an 'on the ground' understanding of what is going on.

EducateOUT project

Our education project is in an exciting initial stage of development and through this, we educate the public of the United Kingdom on what is happening to SOGIESC people globally. We are in the process of developing schemes of work for schools to use and we take part in public talks, podcast projects with SOGIESC people seeking asylum, training and conferences, awareness raising activities and working with all groups of people to educate them on human rights and SOGIESC people.

ReportOUT Campaigns

Not only do we research, document and educate, but we campaign for social change. At ReportOUT, our dedicated campaign team raise awareness by putting pressure on nation states, governments and institutions to abide by their human rights obligations.

ReportOUT blog

Our blog invites SOGIESC people from all over the world to let their voices be heard, We invite all minority SOGIESC people to contact us if they would like their story to be told. So far we have stories from countries as widespread as Ghana, India and Namibia, and eventually we want to cover every country! Bringing the lived experience of being a SOGIESC person, rather than just data and information, is key to what we do at ReportOUT.
